Le Gainsbarre

Description

During the day, Gainsbarre is open to everyone and does not take bookings.

In the evening, bookings can be made over the phone +33 6 09 55 44 68.

For lunch, Le Gainsbarre offers a simple, accessible menu for museum visitors and local customers.

Inspired by hotel room-service menus and British tea rooms, it will serve light, gourmet dishes created by Paris Society: Lobster rolls, truffled croque monsieur, crunchy vegetables, foie gras, tarama trio, Cadoret #3 oysters, salmon gravlax, finger sandwiches, and more.

At night, the lights dim and Le Gainsbarre transforms into a hushed piano bar and cocktail lounge.

Its elegant menu (Oysters on Ice, Lobster rolls, potato and caviar mashed potatoes, salmon gravlax) is reminiscent of the bars of the five star ‘palace’ hotels that Serge Gainsbourg was particularly fond of: the Hemingway at the Ritz, or the Bar Anglais at the Raphaël.

Nestled in the heart of the museum, Le Gainsbarre has an extensive menu of classic cocktails, linked to the history of mixology since the 19th century. A section of the menu is reserved for Serge Gainsbourg favorite classics (the Gibson, the Terrible and the infamous 102). Le Gainsbarre also offers a made-to-measure alcohol-free menu.

Every evening from 8pm, Le Gainsbarre opens to the sound of the piano. Three in-house pianists take turns throughout the week to play classical, jazz and blues standards, inspired by those played by Serge Gainsbourg back in his day.
